After years, ok, DECADES of deciding whether to get this or not, I needed cheering up this year and took the plunge (it's a lot of money for me for a bag, and my lifestyle doesn't really call for collecting movie props) I've actually been using a red Nike duffel gym bag all this time!
First time customer and couldn't be happier. I bought this to use it as a daily bag, not to keep it in a nerd den away from the light of day, so my review will be from a function point of view, as well as aesthetic.
First off, I was confused that it doesn't work exactly like a "normal" drawstring bag, as the bottom of the string can be untied and tied again to a metal ring, and it has leather stoppers preventing 100% complete free movement; just something different to normal bags and after figuring it out, it's grown on me!
I'm happy with the quality; the ropes are nice and chunky, the canvas is thick and sturdy enough to feel it can carry whatever fits in there, the craftsmanship feels secure and doesn't feel like it will give way at any point, and the actual attention to detail aesthetically speaking is bang on... of course it is!
It's large enough to fit a weekend's worth of clothing in if you're in need of a quick get away ;) and the circular base gives it more structure allowing you to find things more easily than a standard duffle bag. It's not ridiculously big either.
It is unique in terms of design as it is, so I wouldn't be surprised if it does turn heads, and wouldn't feel too happy about putting it down anywhere, regardless of price, or it being a prop replica.
With everything going on... backlogs of deliveries due to Covid and Christmas, I was expecting it to take up to 6 months to arrive, but it actually took 5 days. 5 DAYS! From New Zealand to England!! Very impressed, and it has made me feel more comfortable in ordering from Magnoli again. Only thing is to check the tax amount in your country, and make sure you're not over charged - I think I was (through no fault of Magnoli) and am starting a claims process with DHL.
To summarise (TL/DR): Good solid sturdy bag large enough to be used, alongside attention to detail and build/material quality.
Just make sure it doesn't actually end up in an incinerator if you happen to visit a bank in Switzerland!Rating:  [5 of 5 Stars!]
