I have used glasses for many years, and In that time I have changed the style of frame (invisible, thin rimmed, thick paste, oval, round, squared) and the brand (Oakley, Ray Ban, Oliver Peoples, etc.) several times, While I read reviews about Magnoli's quality, I was hesitant because glasses are such a prominent item from my daily wardrobe. The moment I received these frames through the mail, I saw my fears were unfounded. The quality from Magnoli's Professor Glasses rivals those of the most prestigious brands, and at a fraction of the price.
The Good:
- The frames are sturdy, as one other reviewer pointed out, even sturdier than the BOIC. However, they are not heavy, so you won't get marks from the nose pads.
- I took these to the optometrist and she had no problem having them fitted with prescription lenses.
- The design is beautiful, of course. I have been getting compliments all around! Several people have -in fact- recognized them as the glasses used by Harrison Ford (in Raiders & Last Crusade) and Johnny Depp (in Ninth Gate). Note that the temples wrap around your ears. For me that is great as it prevents them from falling, but that is an acquired taste,
- As I said before, the price is great.
The bad:
- Absolutely nothing.
Beyond the frames themselves, shipping and customer service is top notch. I am in the US and did not have to wait overnight to get a response. The team is friendly and was very helpful in providing what I needed to submit a claim for my vision insurance (yes. depending on your insurance, these may even be fully covered!). Shipping was fast, and the frames come safely packed in a Magnoli Clothiers' stamped box. Inside box is a beautiful case, a wiping cloth and the frames.
